NBA Retired Jersey Numbers
Retiring a jersey number is a way to acknowledge the contributions of a player. It means that the retired jersey number is no longer available for a future player to wear but a player can wear it in future as well if he gets the permission of the player whose jersey is retired. These numbers are usually displayed through the hanging banners on the rafters inside the home arena of the player. A team can also honor other personnel as well including team founders, owners, coaches, fans, announcers and broadcasters.
