Anthony Davis Scores 53, Leads Pelicans to Sixth Straight Win
Anthony Davis stole the show on Monday as he scored 53 points, grabbed 18 rebounds and blocked five shots. The New Orleans Pelicans secured a 125-116 victory over Phoenix Suns and extended their winning streak to six.
Anthony Davis has been the biggest standout during New Orleans’ streak. In all six games, Davis has scored at least 27 points. His 53 against Suns is his highest score for the season and he did it all without a single point from three point line. He knocked down 21 free throws and missed just four during the game against Suns.
In this season, there has not been too many 50 + points games. Besides Davis’ 53, only James Harden had 60 and 56 and LeBron James had a 57-point game.
Davis is only the second player to have at least 50 points, 15 rebounds and 5 blocks in a game since blocks were officially recorded in 1973-74. McAdoo had 52 points, 22 rebounds and 7 blocks on Feb. 22, 1974.
Davis’s recent 50-point marks the third of his career. He is just the 11th player in NBA history to score 50 in at least three games before he turned 25.
On Monday’s game, Jrue Holiday scored 20 points for the Pelicans, while Devin Booker had 40 points and 10 rebounds for Phoenix Suns.
