Rockets Hold off Thunder to Win 16th Straight Game
Houston Rockets kept their winning streak going with a 122-112 win over Oklahoma City Thunder.
Chris Paul scored 25 points while James Harden added a double-double to lead the way for Rockets, extending their win streak to 16 games. Rockets are now tied with Boston Celtics for the longest win streak this season. It is also the team’s longest run since a franchise-record 22-game win streak from 2007-08 season.
Rockets had to beat a lot of top teams in the league to get here and Tuesday night was no exception to that. Rockets dominated the game throughout the way. They were at 54-45 at the half time. Thunder tried to close the gap early in the second half, but could not match Rockets attacking display. This has been the most impressive thing about Rocket this season so far.
“We’re so good offensively that every single night, teams are going to throw different coverages at us,” said James Harden. “We’ve just got to figure out ways to attack them. Tonight was no different. Once we found something that we could go to, we used it. Guys got open shots and we just ride that wave out the entire game.”
For Thunders, Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony scored 32 and 23 points respectively. Despite being game’s top scorer, Westbrook could not seal a victory for his team. Houston Rockets made 17-for-33 three pointers on the night and most of them came in second half when the team needed them the most.
“When a team like that is making 3s, it’s tough out there because you’re always in a scramble situation,” said Carmelo Anthony. “But you know, those guys beat us tonight, and we have to accept that and move on and learn from it.”
