NBA Players Who Scored 70 Points in a Game
Only six players have scored 70 or more points in a game in NBA – Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, David Robinson, David Thompson, Kobe Bryant and most recently Devin Booker. Elgin Baylor was the first player to accomplish the feat while Wilt Chamberlain had the most 70-point plus games in his career.
Wilt Chamberlain
Wilt Chamberlain did it six times. In fact, he took it to another level as he went on to score 100 points in one of those games.
Elgin Baylor
Elgin Baylor scored 71 points in 1960 in a game against New York Knicks. It was the highest individual score at the time. Baylor achieved the feat with 28 field goals and 15 free throws.
David Robinson
David Robinson made 71 points in the very last game of the 1993-94 regular season. With an average of 29.8 points, he was also the top scorer of the season.
David Thompson
One of the most remarkable achievements of David Thompson’s career came in 1978, when he scored 73 points against Detroit Pistons. But his efforts were not enough to cross the finish line as his team ended up 139-137 in the close encounter.
Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant’s 81 points are the second highest score by a player in the history of NBA. He made 28 field goals, 7 three pointers and 18 free throws on January 22, 2006 and led his team Los Angeles Lakers to a victory against Toronto Raptors.
Devin Booker
On March 24, 2017, Devin Booker became the sixth NBA player to score at least 70 points in a game. He also set a number of records during the game. Booker became the youngest player to score over 60 points in a NBA game. He also broke franchise records for the Phoenix Suns for most points scored and most free throws made in a game.
