Rules of Basketball
The rules of basketball have been changed considerably over the years, therefore today the game of basketball is not the same as it was used to be in the past. Some rules have remained the same, some have been changed to a certain extent and some new rules have also been inserted in the game, all these things make basketball a little bit complicated. But the basics of the game are quite clear and straight forward.
SCORING
The main thing in basketball is scoring points for your side, by dropping the ball in the baskets of the opposition and prevent opposition from doing so but without involving in fouls and violations.
On every successful shot points are earned but how much points are earned, it depends on the area of the court from which the ball is shot off. Arc on both sides of the court work as a guide line in this respect. If shot is made from inside the arc, then 2 points are awarded. If shot is made from out side the arc, it brings 3 points for the team.
Players dribble the ball which is the only allowed and fair way to move with a ball in the court. In dribbling the ball is controlled with fingers not with the palms.
