Longest Double-Double Streaks in Past 25 Years
Generally, the double-double is not taken too much seriously because it is a very common feat in NBA. In almost every game, you will find at least one player having a double-double, scoring minimum 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. But if some player puts together a string of double-doubles for many consecutive games then it has to be applauded.
Here is a list of longest double-double streaks in past 25 years.
Kevin Love — 53 Double Doubles (Nov. 22, 2010 – March 11, 2011)
Kevin love recorded 53 double doubles in a row during 2010-11 season. This was the longest streak since the ABA-NBA merger in 1976. With that he broke the Moses Malone’s record for most consecutive double-doubles (51 double-doubles in 1978-79).
John Stockton — 37 Double Doubles (Feb. 27, 1989 – Nov. 29, 1989)
This streak stretched over two seasons. It began in 1988-89 season and carried over into the 1989-90 season. Unlike usual double-doubles streak, it consisted of points and assists.
Kevin Garnett — 37 Double Doubles (Feb. 1, 2006 – Nov. 6, 2006)
This streak also spanned over two seasons. It included 37 consecutive double-doubles, 33 in 2005-06 season and 4 additional in 2006-07 season.
Dwight Howard — 33 Double Doubles (Jan. 21, 2011 – April 1, 2011)
Dwight Howard is known as a top double-double machine in NBA. Every time he enters the court it feels that he will end up notching a triple double.
During 2010-11 season, he had a double-double streak which lasted 33 games.
Blake Griffin — 27 Double Doubles (Nov. 20, 2010 – Jan. 17, 2011)
In his rookie year, Blake Griffin notched a 27 game double-double streak. This was the longest streak by a rookie since Elvin Hayes’ 60 double-doubles in 1968-69 season.
David Lee — 24 Double Doubles (Jan. 14, 2009 – March 4, 2009)
David Lee had 24 straight double-doubles in 2008-09 season.
