Teams with Longest Winning Streaks in NBA History
The teams who won most number of games back to back in a single NBA season are listed here. The record for most successive wins set by Larkers in 1971-72 season, still stands unbeaten. No other team came even close to match that record.Following is the list of those teams who possess the record for the longest winning streaks in NBA history. (only those teams are included who won at least 17 games)
1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers (33 straight wins)
Lakers won 33 games in row, most in the history of NBA. They also compiled the second-best record of most wins in a single season (69-13) and went on to win the championship.
2007-08 Houston Rockets (22 straight wins)
Houston recorded the second longest winning streak in 2007-08 season, with 22 wins on the trot and remained unbeaten for about one and a half month, from Jan. 29, 2008 to March 18, 2008.
1970-71 Milwaukee Bucks (20 straight wins)
Led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson, the Bucks won 20 games in succession and stormed into the playoffs with 66-16 record. They became a champion by defeating Baltimore Bullets in four straight games.
2008-09 Boston Celtics (19 straight wins)
Celtics got off to a promising start, they won 27 of their first 29 games and also strung a 19 game winning streak on their way to the playoffs.
1999-00 Los Angeles Lakers (19 straight wins)
Lakers notched three double-digit winnig streaks in the season, including a 19 game winning streak. They ended the season with 67-15 record and won the championship by knocking off Indiana Pacers in the finals.
1995-96 Chicago Bulls (18 straight wins)
Bulls put together a winning streak of 18 games and ended the season with the best ever record of 72-10. They also won the championship by beating Seattle SuperSonics 4-2 in finals.
1981-82 Boston Celtics (18 straight wins)
Celtics had a winning streak of 18 games in 1981-82 season. That streak started with a win against Utah Jazz on 24th Feb. and came to an end with a loss to Indiana Pacers on 26th March.
1969-70 New York Knicks (18 straight wins)
Knicks reeled off 18 straight victories in the season and finished the season with a record of 60-22. By defeating the Bullits in Eastern division semifinals and Milwaukee Bucks in division finals, they ensured a place in the finals and emerged as a champion by winning 4 games to 3 against Los Angeles Lakers.
2006-07 Dallas Mavericks (17 straight wins)
Mavs notched multiple double figure winning streaks during the season, longest one was the 17 game winning streak that came in the ending few months of the regular season.
2006-07 Phoenix Suns (17 straight wins)
Before Dallas Mavericks another team Phoenix Suns put together a winning streak in that season and won 17 games in row, from 29th December to 29th January.
1995-96 San Antonio Spurs (17 straight wins)
Spurs are tied with Mavs and Suns for the sixth place as they won 17 consecutive games in the 1995-06 season.
1959-60 Boston Celtics (17 straight wins)
Featuring greats like Bill Russell, Frank Ramsey, Tom Heinsohn, Bill Sharman and Bob Cousy, the Celtics compiled a 17 game winning streak. Later on, they won the championship as well.
1946-47 Washington Capitols (17 straight wins)
Capitols, a team that exists no more, posted a record of 17 consecutive win in 1946-47 BAA season (the forerunner of NBA).
