It is a difficult record to embrace as no team wants to be remembered for its disappointing performance. They feel no honor to be a part of such list which reminds their failure rather than their success. Here, those teams have been listed who lost most number of games back to back in a single NBA season and set the record for the worst losing streaks in NBA history.
1. 26 games: 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers
Before the start of the season, LeBron James left the Cavs to join Miami. The departure of a key player, hughely affected the team’s balance. As a consequence, Cavs put up a third worst franchise record of 63 loses, including the record of worst ever losing streak of 26 games.
2. 23 games: 1995-96 Vancouver Grizzlies
The Canadian franchise started off the season with few wins under their belt but lost their way during the course of the season and ended up with an embarrassing 15-67 record, along with 23 straight losses.
2. 23 games: 1997-98 Denver Nuggets
Nuggets lost 23 games in a row and shared the record for the second worst losing streak with Vancouver Grizzlies. The overall season was also a dissappointment for the Nuggets as they concluded the season with 11-71 record.
2. 23 games: 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats
Bobcats compiled a losing streak of 23 games in the last two months of the season. The losing streak started when they lost a game agaisnt Philadelphia 76ers on 19th March, they stretched it to 23 with a loss to the New York Knicks on 26th April.
5. 20 games 19772-73 Philadelphia 76ers
76ers began their season with 15 losses, few months later, they lost 20 more games in succession and set reocrd for the worst losing streak in NBA at that time. They snapped this losing streak on 14th Feb. with a win against Milwaukee Bucks.
5. 20 games: 1993-94 Dallas Mavericks
Besides Philadelphia, Dallas is another team that owns the record of 20 consecutive losses. They performed poorly and slipped even further as they ended the season with 12-70 record.
