This is a list about those players who went into NBA straight out of high school. They forgo college and made themselves available for NBA Draft without playing at college level. But it doesn’t happen any more. According to the 2005 CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) and the new 2011 agreement, no player can declair himself eligible before he turns to 19 and at least one year after he completes his high school graduation.

 In the early days of NBA, players were drafted only after the completion of their 4 years college eligibility and if they are not enrolled in a college then they have to wait until four years get over. In the 1970s, NBA authorities changed the rule and permitted high schools graduates to be a part of the NBA draft. As a result, many young players entered the league. Since 2005, an age limit has been determined, according to which no player with less than 19 years can be declared eligible for NBA Draft. Moreover, if he turns 19 before his high school graduation ends, he will wait for at least one more year to become eligible for the draft. So, all the players who are listed here must have been selected before 2005.

If you take a look at the rosters of all the teams in the NBA you will surprise to see that how many foreign players are playing in the league today. A few decades back, the situation was not like that. Only small numbers of international players were the part of the league.  But now heaps of overseas players are drafted each year and selected by the franchises in NBA. Finalists Roster for 2012 Olympics men’s basketball team had been announced by the governing body, USA basketball earlier this year. The roster featured 20 best players across the United States. NBA Rookie of the Year award is presented to a new player of the league for his overall performance in the first year of his professional career. It is an annual award and has been given out since 1953. The rookies, playing in the league, are judged by a panel of sports journalists and broadcasters (across United States and Canada). Slam dunk contest primarily aims to entertain the crowd where selected NBA players participate and showcase their dunking skills and abilities. The competition is held yearly during the NBA All-Star Weekend and the winner is decided through the voting of the fans (through text messaging or via twitter).
